Philadelphia and Friends!

While we were in NYC we thought it was a good idea to go and see some friends we have who live in a suburb of Philadelphia. The grown-ups are called Corey and Tom and they have three kids. One who is half a year younger than me called Colwyn, one a bit younger than Lottie called Rhys and one who is four called Jasper. We rented a zip car and drove there. When we got there we figured out soon enough that

  1. Jasper is stronger than me
  2. Jasper is a good puncher and very rough
  3. Colwyn and Jasper are Baseball nuts!
Rhys, Lottie and I where TRYING to play a game but of course Jasper ran through the cards so we gave up on that! We then went upstairs and played and kind of let's say squished Daddy’s bed! That was in Rhys' room because they have a HUGE house and they each have a bedroom. We then went next door to the Baseball room a.k.a the room I was sleeping in and Colwyn’s room.

We had a wonderful dinner of chicken and corn on the cob. We went inside and had some blueberry crumble. We then did something that Colwyn did NOT want to do. We watched the music video which both a very young sleepy Colwyn and a very young shy me are in. We could kind of predict what would happen because we guessed Colwyn would yawn and then he did. I think he ended up going to sleep. The only time I ever sang or danced was when I stood up and waved my arms about and spun round and round. I thought I was HILARIOUS! We then talked and went to bed.

The next morning we had a late breakfast and drove to Philadelphia. The car arrangements went like this. Tom and Tom with Rhys and Lottie in one car. Jasper,Colwyn, Mama, Cory and I in the other. We drove to Independence hall and got in WITHOUT the others. Mama got a phone call that they were looking for parking. So we then found them later and went to a place called Reading Terminal. It is this old terminal that they basically turned into an all year round farmers market. We had lunch and headed back to the house. Me and Colwyn managed a very silent game of basketball by somehow making it so we try to make a hoop and give it to the other person then they try and give it back and so on. We did that. I also found that playing a piano again was wonderful. Usually when there is one I won't play because I get embarrassed but with Rhys playing too, I stopped being so scared. I played over and over again.

We then drove for about an hour with the same car arrangements to a place where we had dinner. We then drove to a garden where there would be fireworks. We got there just in time and I have never seen lovelier. You are in a quiet garden and then there are tons of fireworks. We were listening to Swan Lake music while we watched the show. We then took a walk through the gardens and I got scared because I get scared in the middle of a field in the darkness. The funny bit was when we got to throw two pennies in the fountain and Colwyn accidentally threw his wristband to being allowed in the water! He then had to fish it out! We fell asleep in the car. Well I didn’t. When we got home we all went to bed and got some sleep.

The next morning we had another late breakfast and then I played some more piano and basketball. I also rode Rhys bike a bit. We then decided to go to the town pool. I got changed quickly and when we got there I was the only one brave enough to go into the cold water. We then swam around and played. Me and Colwyn started a game where we hit a ball some where and swim to get it. The one who got it hit it again. This carried on and through the trying to get it I got kicked in the head once by Colwyn but it did not matter much. We then had to go so we said goodbye and drove back. I had one of the best weekend EVER!

NYC part 1

We have been in New York for about three weeks and have about a month left. We have been to alot of places and instead of doing lots of posts I will do a really long one. So get yourself ready for LOTS of info!! So let me see... Ah Ha first is:

The Empire State, Central Park and Grand Central station

We went into Manhattan with Daddy as he headed to the office and we went to the Empire State. Daddy’s office is really close to it so we went and walked after saying goodbye to him. We walked through Bryant Park and walked their it was early in the day so the queue was not really really long. We got our tickets and made our way to the lifts. You know those places where you have to get your picture taken. Well of course there was one of those. And there was a long line which we had to stand in and then skip it. Then we kept going and finally got into a lift. All the way up there was someone saying "Welcome to The Empire state ..." in lots of languages. That got boring. Up and up we went until we finally got to the 80th floor. Then we got in an other lift to go to up six more floors. Then we got to the top and could see all over the city!!!!!!! I of course knowing me took lots of pictures. We then went back to the air-conditioning. We took the lift down and when we got to the bottom decided to go and see 1 out of Mamas two favourite buildings. Grand Central station! We went in and had a sandwich for lunch. Then we went to the Metro and went to Central park and had an ice cream sitting under the trees. I love NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we had a good day!

Washington DC part 1

Hi

We decided that being in New York was a good time to go and see DC. So mama booked tickets to go on the Amtrak to DC. And she booked a house to stay in for four nights and then we went. We left on the 12 and got back yesterday on the 16. On the way there we got four seats facing each other. The guards told us off for doing it but lots of people including us said we found it like that so they were ok about that after a while. When we got to Washington DC it was about 3:00 so we took a taxi to our pace and saw the house. We then set out for lunch at a cafĂ© called Pot City cafe. We then went home and then to one of the best book stores in the world! You walk into a three story building with piles of random books everywhere and you can see some and not others. They were piles so high they were taller than  me! I got a book called Daddy Long Legs which mama says I will like. We then went and walked around the capitol. It is really big and nice. I liked it. We thought it was funny that the supreme court and the Library of congress both had scaffolding on it. And the capitol was one of the only ones without it! We then went home and had a nice Italian dinner a place not to far from where we were staying. I had a nice tomato pasta.

The next morning I woke up and READ as always. We then went and walked to the Library of congress where we saw Thomas Jefferson Library. It was cool because it had a few books I have read like:A Tree Grows in Brooklyn,Huckleberry Fin, The cat in the hat and other books. We then went and had lunch where I had a nice sandwich. We then walked to The capitol building to have our tour. It was nice and quite interesting. There were two statues per state and Californias where Jejuna Pera Serra  and Ronald Reagen. I liked the tour and there was a room where the sealing was made and it made echos which was funny!!!! They also told us about the pentagon in 9/11. The tour guide said her husband worked at the pentagon but luckily was at home sick. She also said she saw the areoplane fly over their head. Some people thought it was heading for the capitol but luckily it was not!

The Fourth of July

Three days ago it was the fourth of July and the US was celebrating independence day with fireworks. Being in NYC we watched a huge fireworks show over the Hudson River. And if anybody asked where we are from that days its Australian because I dont think they would be too happy. And so at 6:00 we left for Manhattan. And got ready for lots of big crowds!!!!! When we got there we walked and walked and walked and walked until we got to an area. We sat down and then a minute later were told to stand an move up so we did. "Stand up becuse lots more people are coming so make room" said a policeman but that did not work and people stayed put! So we sat there for a really long time watching it get darker and darker until at 9:20 I stood up ready for it my camera on the firework setting and then Boom up went the first! It was funny cause we were cramped in waiting but when it started the all moved back for a good view. It was about 25 minutes long which was nice. There was lots and lots and lots of them all different types. I took some really good pictures. Hope you like em! Oh and also I had forgotten how load they were so surprised me!
